Paula Jarzabkowski will continue our Past, Present, and Future of Research and Practice on Strategic Organizations and will be discussing the paper Enabling Rapid Financial Response to Disasters: Knotting and Reknotting Multiple Paradoxes in Interorganizational Systems (Authors: Paula Jarzabkowski, Rebecca Bednarek, Konstantinos Chalkias, Eugenia Cacciatori). Paula Jarzabkowski is a Professor of Strategic Management, University of Queensland, Australia, & Bayes Business School, City, University of London. Her research focuses on strategy-as-practice in complex contexts, such as regulated firms, third sector organizations, and financial services, particularly insurance and reinsurance. Her research in this regard has been foundational in the establishment of the field of strategy-as-practice. She is experienced in qualitative methods, having used a range of research designs, including cross-sectional and longitudinal case studies, and drawing on multiple qualitative data sources including interviews, observation, audio, and video ethnographic techniques, and archival sources to study private and public sector organizations.

Teaching Qualitative Methods: Faculty Perspectives on Training the Next Generation of Researchers

Join the Qualitative Research Initiative of the Center for Social and Behavioral Science for an interdisciplinary panel on teaching qualitative and mixed methods. This conversation brings together experienced faculty from various disciplines to discuss their approaches to teaching qualitative and mixed methods. In light of growing interest in digital methods, "big data," and developing conversations about research ethics and collaborative work, these topics will also be highlighted

Distinguished Speaker Series: Resident Scholar Moshe Farjoun - Co-Sponsored with ISOI

Moshe Farjoun is a Professor of Strategy and Organization at the Schulich School of Business, York University, and was recently a visiting Research Fellow at the Judge School of Business, Cambridge University. Moshe received his Ph.D. from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. His research is mainly conceptual and historical and focuses on strategy, organization, and adaptation in novel, complex and dynamic contexts as manifest in processes such as organizational learning, discovery, strategy making, managerial cognition, and institutional and strategic change.
