Melissa Graebner
Robert C. Evans Endowed Professor in Business

Melissa Graebner is the Robert C. Evans Endowed Professor in Business at Gies College of Business and Director of INQUIRE. An internationally recognized expert in the fields of strategy and entrepreneurship, her research interests include mergers and acquisitions, strategy in entrepreneurial firms, and qualitative research methods. Her work has been featured in popular outlets both in the US and abroad, including The Economist, New York Times Dealbook, Forbes, M&A Journal, Le Monde, The Washington Post, and Business Insider.

Melissa's research has received several honors, including the Best Paper Award from the Academy of Management Journal. She is a President's Distinguished Faculty Recruitment Program awardee and a Fellow of the Strategic Management Society. Her name regularly appears on the List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent by their Students. Melissa also served as co-editor of Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal and has held elected leadership positions in the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society.

Melissa earned her MBA and her PhD in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University. Prior to joining Gies, she was on the faculty of the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin for 16 years. Melissa has held visiting appointments at INSEAD and at the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University. She has also worked for a software startup and as a management consultant for McKinsey & Co., where she focused on technology mergers and acquisitions.
